# Geometric Distribution

A discrete probability distribution $$Geom(p)$$ having the PMF
$p_p(k) = p \times (1-p)^{k-1}$
that governs the probability that, for independent experiments with a probability of success $$p$$, the $$k^\mathrm{th}$$ is the first that succeeds, where $$k \geqslant 1$$, or alternatively the probability
$p_p(k) = p \times (1-p)^k$
that there are $$k$$ failures before the first success, where $$k \geqslant 0$$.
